The Face Phase

Sometime during 2011, she has gone thru this phase of drawing faces on crushed paper. She first crushes the paper and then draws and colours them. Here are some of them i found stuck together and sitting pathetically in her bag.

This one below was drawn apparently when she got angry with someone in her class for breaking the zipper on her bag,

Her friend in the bus pestered her to draw something for her. This is not on crushed paper.

She doesn't remember why she gave this guy an earring. ...and why there are 3 drops of saliva dropping from his mouth.

She remembers that the one below was the first of the Face Drawings she made.

This one is her favourite. It is the Sun and the Moon ( in a night-cap)

In love with Patterns...

These two doodles are from a "in love with patterns" phase. This phase has lasted a long time. Both of these are also on crushed paper.

One is a mono-colour in red tones....

And the other - a favourite of hers in a riot of colours.

Ball Point pen on crushed paper

On one of our visits to Chitra Santhe....the annual road bazaar of paintings and artists where she saw a painting made with ball-point pen, Aaina drew this just with ball-point pen, using criss-cross pattern to do the highlights. She crushed the paper later to get a better effect.

Aaina is happiest when she is surrounded by beautiful paintings and art and thats why we never miss a visit to Chitra Santhe - the annual street festival organised in Bangalore where artists come and exhibit & sell their  work.
